Thanks to news:6gm2pvFgkq6cU1@mid.uni-berlin.de everything is quite fine now. Only filenames and directories with whitespace wreak havoc.

completion does not work 100%: dirnames are added to _every_ command (should only happen for filename part) and fallthrough after gbsplay options only expands to dirnames, a redirection to a file (> somefile) is not expanded as it should
